We are always looking for officials to support our Representative teams. Each team requires a coach, manager and umpire. Premier League teams also require a primary carer and scorers/timers.

Before nominating for a BNA Rep Officials position, please read all the information on the relevant page, either State Age or Premier League and the player agreements, so that you further understand what this role involves. You will be required to attend a Rep Welcome Night on 26 February 2018, followed by a Coaches Night. You are also required to submit your team to compete in the BNA Rep Carnival on 25 March 2018 (including State Age and Premier League teams). In addition to this State Age teams will participate in at least 2 other Association Rep Carnivals.


Nominations are hereby called for Officials for BNA 2018 Representative and Premier League teams to compete in the 2018 South East Queensland Challenge and State Age Championships.

Brisbane Netball envisage up to 15  representative teams may be selected for the 2018 season.  This includes up to four Premier League teams and up to 8 State Age teams in addition to a number of junior development teams for 12 to 14 years.

Details of the various key competitions and carnivals are as follows:

SEQ Challenge (Premier League)

The SEQ Challenge is a season fixture competition held on a weekly basis from April2018  to late September 2018. All officials will need to be available to attend Premier League fixtures each Thursday or Friday night at the State Netball Centre, Klumpp Rd, Mt Gravatt, plus training at least once per week (primary carer and bench officials may not be required to attend training sessions).

Premier League teams may be selected in the Open, 18 years and 16 years age groups.

Our Premier League teams will also compete at our BNA club carnival on 25 March 2018.

State Age Championships

We will select two teams in each of the 12 to 15 years age groups who will compete in the State Age Championships.  This will be held from 7 -10 July 2018 at Ipswich Netball Association.  Each of our junior representative teams will compete in a number of local tournaments throughout the year culminating in State Age in July 2018.

Leading up to State Age Championships

For all our teams, officials must be available to attend their respective events and additionally,

  • training sessions held on a weekly basis;
  • attend additional Strength and Conditioning sessions with their team on an ad hoc basis and as advised by the Development Director;
  • the BNA rep carnival on 25 March 2018;
  • at least two additional association representative carnivals

Development Teams

Development teams may be selected in the 12 to 14 year age groups. Our development teams consist of fringe players with identified talent who are likely to progress into the core representative groups in the future. Officials must be available to enter teams into five representative carnivals over the Winter Season and attend training sessions held on a weekly basis.

Duties and Expectations


All coaches must have a minimum of a Foundation level accreditation and must hold a current blue card for working with children. Proof of current level of coaching accreditation must be submitted with this nomination form.

A copy of the applicant’s blue card or an application for a Blue Card form must be submitted when lodging the form.

No Coaches are permitted to engage external specialist coaches without the approval of the Development Director. (ie shooting, fitness or other coaches).

Premier League Coaches

Premier League coaches will train one session per week and attend all games at Klumpp Road Mt Gravatt on either a Thursday or Friday night throughout the season. Premier League teams will also compete in the BNA rep carnival.

State Age Coaches

Coaches are required to conduct at least one training session per week.  State Age teams will train on a Sunday afternoon.  Rep teams will only train once per week until two months prior to their competition, in which they may train twice per week.  If teams are training twice per week the other session may be held at any time of the coaches choosing. This will need to be determined at the start of the season so that courts may be booked.

Coaches are required to take their teams to two representative carnivals in addition to the BNA Rep Carnival. The BNA Rep Carnival will be held on Sunday 25 March 2018 and will be compulsory for all representative teams.

Coaches must attend a welcome night on Monday, 26 February 2018 from 6pm to 8pm. This will be followed by a Coaches Meeting.


All managers will be required to attend all training sessions and to assist with uniform orders and distribution.  During the competition, managers will be required to collect and return scorecards as required and to care for the BNA equipment supplied with each team eg bibs, balls, esky, water container etc. Managers will be responsible for coordinating a team roster for volunteer duties at the BNA rep carnival.

Extra duties are required for travelling events including preparation of food, laundering clothing, overseeing administration of prescribed medication and generally caring for the players.

Premier League managers are also required to attend managers meetings as set by Netball Queensland, complete team sheets, substitution cards if required and liaise with Netball Queensland personnel on fixture days.


Premier League umpires will be required to umpire at the time as set down by Netball Queensland on a weekly basis.  This may include being required on a standby roster.

State Event umpires will be required to umpire practice matches and junior representative carnivals (minimum of two) and attend training sessions at coaches’ request prior to championships.  During championships, umpires will be required to umpire games as set down by Netball Queensland. Umpires must also be available to umpire at the BNA Rep Carnival on 25th March 2018 and two additional Rep Carnivals.

Remuneration (Premier League): weekly match fees

Remuneration (State Event): $400 plus additional for preparation carnivals attended prior to State Age Championships.

Primary Carers (Premier League only)

One primary carer must be appointed per team. This person must sit on the team bench for each match of the competition. The primary carer is primarily responsible for the initial attention to injured players within their team.  Once the injured player has been taken from the court, the sports medicine personnel may continue treatment as appropriate.   

Primary carers must hold a current minimum senior first aid certificate and a current working with children positive notice blue card. A copy of your current senior first aid certificate, must be attached to your nomination form.

Bench officials (Premier League only)

Scorers/Timekeepers are required for Premier League only.  They are required to arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the match and remain until completion of the match.  Scorers/Timekeepers are also required to attend any meetings as set by Netball Queensland.
