In 2017 Netball Queensland have introduced a new competition, the Queensland Cup.
Queensland Cup is Netball Queensland’s two day senior association representative carnival for under 16, under 18, open, mixed, men’s and masters (over 35) divisions. This event will be held at Cairns Netball Association from 19-20 August 2017. This event replaces State Age for the Under 16 and 18 age groups and provides an opportunity for open players to compete in a NQ state event.
BNA will be calling for nominations for players who wish to be considered for selection in a Queensland Cup team in the Under 16, Under 18, Open age and Masters groups. Official nominations will be released in early January 2017.
This is a travelling event and teams will travel (by plane) together to Cairns on 18 August 2017 and return in the evening of 20 August 2017. Players will therefore need to be available to travel on 18 August 2017. The costs of this event are yet to be finalised, however it is estimated they will be approximately $900 – $1,000. This information will be confirmed and provided when nominations are called. Any U 16 and U 18 players who have nominated for the current TIP program are not required to re-nominate for Queensland Cup and their nomination will carry over.
Nominations will also be called for the 2017 Premier League competition in early January 2017. This is a weekly competition hosted by Netball Queensland and held from April/May until September 2017. Weekly fixtures will be on either Thursday or Friday evenings at the State Netball Centre at Mt Gravatt. Nominations will be called for the U 16, U 18 and Open age groups in early January 2017. The fees, if selected are approximately $400.
Trials for both the Queensland Cup and Premier League teams will be on Sunday 19 February 2017.
Please check the BNA website in early January 2017 for the nomination forms for both events.
