In line with the National Netball Curriculum, the Brisbane Netball Association will be offering the NetSetGO! program in 2015.
NetSetGO! Is the only Netball Qld endorsed program for junior netballers aged 5 to 10 years. We believe the flow-on benefits of the program will not only support, but strengthen our athlete pathway and develop the standard of competition at the BNA.
The NetSetGO! Program is a two tier program. Progression through the tiers is based predominantly on the skill level and changing needs of the participants:
Participants born 2007 – 2009 – aims to bring together eager children to develop fundamental motor skills while encouraging fun and friendships through netball related dance, games and activities. In 2015, children born 2007 – 2009 will be accepted in this tier of the program.
Cost: $100 per participant. Registration can be completed online or manually at the BNA.
Dates: Saturday, 2nd May to Saturday, 25th July. The program will not be conducted on 7th June (Queen’s Birthday long weekend), 27th June, 4th July, 11th July (school holidays). Session time: 8.00 – 9.00am on Saturday mornings.
Sign-on: Players are encouraged to sign on and pay fees through the NetSetGo website. Alternatively, they are able to sign on at BNA at any time up to the 1st May, 2015.

Players born 2005 – 2006 – establishing the next generation of netballers by refining netball skills, teamwork and enthusiasm to develop their game to the next level. A modified netball game, played under the modified rules, may also be introduced. The BNA will offer a skills only group plus a game play group under this tier (players who have participated in our advanced Nipper program or played with a club in U10s may register with their chosen club for the game play module. In 2015, children born in 2005 and 2006 will be accepted in this tier of the program.
Skills only: cost, registration and dates as above. Registration preferred through the Net Set Go website. Session times: 9.00 to 10.00am on Saturday mornings.
Game Play: club based registration process. Please contact your preferred club for sign-on and registration details and costs.
Match duration: 4 x 10 minute quarters.
Goal Post: 2.4m (8ft) in height.
Ball: Size 4.
Time to pass the ball: 5 seconds.
Stepping: Shuffling on the spot to regain balance allowed without moving down the court.
Defending: Strict ‘one-on-one’ defence. Players may defend a shot at goal.
Obstruction: A Player must defend from a distance of no less than 1.2m (4 ft).
Substitutions: The game time should be evenly distributed amongst all players. A team (up to 10 players is recommended) may make unlimited substitutions at intervals or at any time during play.
The procedure for making a substitution during play is:
- Before entering the court, the substitute shall tag eth player leaving the court.
- Both the substitute and the player leaving the court shall not interfere with the play during the substitution process.
- Both the substitute and the player leaving the court shall observe the Offside Rule when leaving or entering the court.
- Players should be substituted into either only attack positions or only defence positions for the duration of the game.
Players should experience all positions over the course of the program/season.
Centre pass: The initial centre pass will be taken by the team that won the toss and all other centre passes shall be taken by the team that did not score the last goal.
Awards and scoring: Scores may be kept but no ladder produced. No final matches should be played. Each participant in the competition should be given a memento of participation eg a medal.
