Brisbane Netball envisage up to 17 representative teams may be selected for the 2017 season. This includes up to three Premier League teams and up to 12 representative teams in addition to a number of junior development teams for U12s to U14s.
Details of the various key competitions and carnivals are as follows:
SEQ Challenge (Premier League)
The SEQ Challenge is a season fixture competition held on a weekly basis from late April 2017 to late September 2017. All officials will need to be available to attend Premier League fixtures each Thursday or Friday night at the State Netball Centre, Klumpp Rd, Mt Gravatt, plus training at least once per week (primary carer and bench officials may not be required to attend training sessions).
Premier League teams may be selected in the Open, Under 18 and Under 16 age groups
State Age and Queensland Cup teams
Teams include all teams from U12s through to U18. Each of our State Age and Queensland Cup teams will compete in a number of local tournaments throughout the year culminating in a state-based tournament as set out below.
In 2017 Netball Queensland have restructured the State Events. The Challenge Carnival no longer exists and we are able to send two teams in each of the Under 12 to Under 15 age groups to the State Age Championships. This will be held from 5 – 9 July 2017 at Pine Rivers Netball Association. Each of our junior representative teams will compete in a number of local tournaments throughout the year culminating in State Age in July 2017.
The Under 16 and Under 18 teams will compete at the Queensland Cup, which will be held from 19 – 20 August 2017 at Cairns Netball Association. Teams will travel on 18 August 2017. This is a new competition and also hosts Open and Masters teams. BNA has called for nominations for Under 16, 18, Open and Masters teams for this event. We are only able to select one team per age group.
Leading up to State Age Championships and Queensland Cup
For all our teams, officials must be available to attend their respective events and additionally,
- training sessions held on a weekly basis,
- up to three additional representative carnivals
- Weekend Camp from 11-12 March 2017 (TBC)
Development teams may be selected in the Under 12-14 age groups. Our development teams consist of fringe players with identified talent to progress into the core representative groups in the future. Officials must be available to enter teams into five representative carnivals over the Winter Season and attend training sessions held on a weekly basis. Officials must be available to attend a weekend camp from 11-12 March 2017 (TBC).
