We will select teams in each of the U12, U13 and U14 years age groups who will compete in the Junior State Age Championships, dependent on sufficient nominations of required calibre.  This will be held from 29 June – 2 July 2024 at Downey Park Netball Association.

For all non-travelling events you will be required to arrange your own transport to and from the venue each day. You are required to be present throughout the event and will be responsible for the care of the players in your team. Each of our Junior representative teams will also compete in local rep carnivals throughout the year culminating in State Age in June/July 2024.

Leading up to State Age Championships

For all our teams, officials must be available to attend their respective events and additionally attend:

§  Welcome Night for parents and team members – Proposed date is Mid February 2024

§  Training sessions held on a weekly basis

§  Additional Strength and Conditioning sessions with their team on an ad-hoc basis and as advised by the Rep Convenor

§  Additional Carnivals throughout the Representative season leading up to Junior State Age Championships

The Greater Brisbane Netball League (GBNL) began in 2021, replacing the Queensland Premier League Zone 6 competition.

It is managed by netball associations for both association and university players and caters for players turning 16 or older in the year of Competition and includes 16 years, 18 years, 23 years and Opens groups.

GBNL is committed to providing a safe, fair, and inclusive netball environment where people from all communities can contribute and participate.

We envisage the 2024 competition will be very similar to prior years and held on a weekly basis from April 2024 to late September 2024. All officials will need to be available to attend GBNL fixtures each Thursday or Friday night, plus training at least once per week (primary carer and bench officials may not be required to attend training sessions).

GBNL teams may be selected in the Open, 23 years, 18 years and 16 years age groups.

Duties and Expectations

All GBNL coaches must have a minimum of Intermediate level accreditation or be working towards this.  GBNL coaches will train one session per week and attend all games on either a Thursday or Friday night throughout the season.

All State Age coaches must have a minimum of a development level accreditation and must hold a current blue card for working with children.

All Development team coaches must have a minimum of a Foundation level accreditation.  Proof of current level of coaching accreditation must be submitted with the nomination form.

A copy of the applicant’s blue card must be emailed to rep@brisbanenetball.org.au immediately after lodging coach nomination form. Anyone who currently does not have a blue card can apply online for a Blue Card via the Queensland Government Blue Card website

No Coaches are permitted to engage external specialist coaches without the approval of the Rep Convenor (i.e., shooting, fitness or other coaches).

State Age Coaches

Coaches are required to conduct at least one training session per week.  State Age teams will train on a Wednesday night and may do a second session (S & C) on another weeknight.

Coaches are required to take their teams to four representative carnivals.

Junior State Age Coaches must attend a welcome night in Mid February 2024.

All managers will be required to attend training sessions as requested by the Coach and to assist with uniform orders and distribution. During the competition, managers will be required to collect and return scorecards as required and to care for the BNA equipment supplied with each team e.g., bibs, balls, esky, water container etc.

Managers will be responsible for coordinating a team roster for volunteer duties at the BNA rep carnival.

State Age managers will be required to fulfil Live Scoring duties at State Age Championships and may be required to attend online training run by Netball Queensland prior to the event.

Blue cards are required and will need to be emailed to rep@brisbanenetball.org.au when lodging nomination form

Primary Carers (GBNL only)

One primary carer must be appointed per team. This person must sit on the team bench for each match of the competition. The primary carer is responsible for the initial attention to injured players within their team. Once the injured player has been taken from the court, the sports medicine personnel may continue treatment as appropriate.

Primary carers must hold a current minimum senior first aid certificate and a current working with children positive notice blue card. A copy of your current senior first aid certificate and blue card must be emailed to rep@brisbanenetball.org.au.
