2022-23 SNS Foundation Umpire Course

This 6-week Foundation Umpire Development course provides the perfect opportunity for those who are interested in taking the first step in their umpiring journey.

What will umpires' gain from this course? Attending this course will assist member club foundation umpires in learning the Rules of Netball and how to apply them at a Junior game level.

The course is limited to 2 Foundation umpires from each affiliated BNA club (12 in total). Your club umpire convenor will be the contact point for all course registration approvals.  Please contact your club umpire convenor for registration information and link.

 Course Topics:

1.       Introduction to umpiring

2.       Rules

3.       Hand signals

4.       Umpiring techniques

5.       Position, Vision and Timing when umpiring – what does this mean?

6.       Umpire Responsibilities and expectations

7.       Meeting your club umpire convenors

8.       Practical on court mentoring is also included during the course

 

Details:

6-week theory and practical course, commencing Saturday 14th January 2023.

Cost: $150 per participant (includes GST)

Inclusions: all participants will receive an INF 2020 Rule book, whistle, workbook and intro to umpiring kit

Pre-requisites:

  • Fully completed and paid online registration by Saturday 7th January 2023
  • Participants to have a ‘Club Supported’ form signed by their club convenor
  • Participant to complete Rules of Netball Theory exam online at https://learning.netball.com.au/login/index.php   Search ‘Rules of Netball Theory’ – there will be a small fee for this exam (note, if you have trouble using your MyNetball login, make sure to email support from the login page.
  • Save a PDF copy of the completion certificate and email to umpiring@brisbanenetball.org.au by Friday 6th January 2023
  • All participants are required to attend all sessions in order to successfully complete the course
