GBNL 2022

GBNL Information

The Greater Brisbane Netball League (GBNL) began in 2021, replacing the Queensland Premier League Zone 6 competition. 

It is managed by netball associations for both association and university players and caters for players turning 16 or older in the year of Competition and includes 16 years, 18 years, 23 years and Opens groups. 

GBNL is committed to providing a safe, fair, and inclusive netball environment where people from all communities can contribute and participate. 

This competition is a representative competition in which teams from Queensland compete weekly, each Thursday or Friday night from May through to September. These teams train one night per week either at the BNA courts or at a nearby indoor venue, with training beginning in May 2022 

To be eligible to represent BNA in this competition, players are required to be registered members of the Association, with a minimum of three games to be played in our 2022 Winter Day competition to qualify. 

Players born in 2006 and 2007 are eligible to play in the 16 years age group. 

Players born in 2005 to 2004 are eligible to play in the 18 years age group. 

Players born in 2003 to 1999 are eligible to play in the 23 years age group. 

Players born in 1998 or earlier are eligible to play in the Opens age group. 

Please note your nomination allows selection into any higher GBNL age group as deemed appropriate by selectors.   


Being selected in a 2022 GBNL team requires the following commitment – 

·         Attend GBNL trials on 23rd January 2022 

·         Attend a uniform fitting on Saturday 26th February 2021 and purchase all necessary uniform items (if new, then approximately TBA. Some uniform items are available secondhand)

·         Attend a Welcome Night on Monday 28th February 2022 

·         Pay fees associated with events (these will be set once competition details are released)

·         Attend training sessions as set by your coach – generally once or twice per week (commencing in March 2022) 

·         Travel to/from the competition venue/s to play weekly fixtures every Thursday or Friday evening at Nissan Arena

GBNL Trial Dates

16 years, 18 years, 23 years and Opens (born 2005 or earlier) – Sunday 23 January @ 4-6pm 

Trials will be held at South Pine Sports Complex Indoor Stadium at 620 South Pine Rd, Brendale

Each session will run for approximately 2 hours. Masks are to be worn at all times other than when trialing and mandatory check-in will be required via QR code. Due to covid restrictions, parents will not be able to stay for the duration of the trial.

GBNL Costs

Fees for all GBNL players is $590. 

GBNL Team Officials - Coaches & Managers

We are always looking for officials to support our GBNL teams. Each team requires a coach, manager, scorer and primary carerAssistant coach roles are also available for some teams 

GBNL Officials’ nomination form for managers, coaches and assistant coaches is available here. Expressions of Interest will be sought for scorer and primary carer for each GBNL team once teams are finalized.
