2027 Senior State Age
BNA will be competing at the 2027 Senior State Age Championships, hosted by Toowoomba Netball Association from Saturday April 3rd until Tuesday April 6th. BNA will NOT be organising team accomodation nor will BNA be travelling as an Association for SSA. Families are responsible for arranging their own travel and accomodation for the duration of the event. New Approach - 2027 Senior Rep Program
BNA is excited to introduce an enhanced pathway for our 2027 Senior State Age (SSA) Representative Program. To provide our athletes with the strongest possible preparation for SSA, trials will be held earlier than in previous years. Following trials, athletes will be selected into a SSA Squad that will remain together throughout the BNA Summer Night Competition under the guidance of their appointed representative coach. This revised format significantly extends the preparation period for our representative athletes. Historically, teams have only had the period from January through to SSA to develop combinations and prepare for competition. By bringing athletes together during SNS, players and coaches will have additional time to establish connections, develop tam structures and gain valuable match experience before the formal representative season beings. The Summer Night Competition component of the program should be viewed as game-based representative training. The primary objective is not winning, but exposing athletes to higher levels of competition and providing meaningful challenge-based learning opportunities in a competitive environment. To achieve this, SSA Squads will be entered into divisions that provide the most appropriate level of competition for their development. This includes the 2027 U15 SSA Squad competing in the Opens competition throughout SNS, ensuring athletes are exposed to stronger opposition and a higher standard of netball in preparation for representing BNA at SSA the following year. Athletes will play one game per week with their SSA Squad during the SNS (Wednesday nights). There will be no additional on-court representative training during this period, with formal representative training commencing in January. Formal representative training from January to March can then focus on refining game plans, strengthening combinations and preparing teams for SSA competition. As athletes will be participating in the SSA program through the SNS competition, they will not be eligible to represent their club opens team during the BNA SNS. Athletes wishing to continue playing with their club in addition to their SSA Squad may also participate in the following competitions:
Following the completion of the Summer Night Competition, final SSA Championship Teams and Training Partners will be confirmed ahead of the formal representative training phase. This enhanced pathway reflects BNA's commitment to providing athletes with the best possible representative experience, extending their preparation period and ensuring BNA teams are given every opportunity to succeed at Senior State Age. |
